As part of the Tax Centre of Expertise (CoE) within the Finance CoE, we are looking for a skilled and proactive Regional Tax Manager to join our team Based in Sydney, you will play a pivotal role in managing and advising on tax matters across the Asia Pacific region. You will act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for tax-related issues and work closely with the Tax and Stats Centre of Capability (CoC), as well as local Finance Business Partners (FBPs). Effective in implementation of regional tax strategy. Management of global risk frameworks, compliance, business advice, and controversy management.

You will play a critical role in supporting the tax strategy and governance of the region, while managing relationships with external tax advisors, tax authorities, and key stakeholders within the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional with a passion for international tax and a drive to make an impact in a dynamic, global environment.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Tax Oversight: Monitor and manage all tax matters within the region, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. This includes corporate income tax, trade tax, VAT, real estate tax, withholding tax, and other relevant taxes.
  • Drive Tax Strategy : Providing insights on commercial contracts, vendor relationships, and corporate initiatives. Ensure tax strategies align with overall business goals. Serve as a trusted advisor, guiding the Tax CoC and management on tax implications of regional legislative changes and offering mitigation strategies.
  • M&A & Integration Support: Provide tax expertise during mergers, acquisitions, and integrations, including due diligence. Identify and escalate potential tax risks to the Regional Head of Tax and senior management, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Tax Audits & Disputes: Coordinate regional tax audits and disputes, working closely with external advisors to resolve issues efficiently. Collaborate with the Head of Transfer Pricing to ensure the region's transfer pricing policies align with global standards.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver local tax training programs to ensure business compliance with tax policies and standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regional finance teams, external tax advisors, and tax authorities.

Skills and Experience Required

  • 7+ years of international taxation experience, with a master’s degree in accounting or tax law, gained in-house at a multinational or within a "Big Four" firm.
  • Expertise in international and local tax laws, with a proven ability to develop and execute tax strategies. Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional, international teams and handling complex financing structures and M&A transactions.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems like SAP and advanced MS Excel, with a solid understanding of data flows and accounting principles.
  • Strong collaboration skills across multiple functions and regions, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Organisational, project management, and problem-solving expertise, with fluency in English and knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Mandarin) a plus as the role covers Asiapac
