The Role

Imperial Brands have a new exciting opportunity to join our Group Science and Regulatory Affairs team as a Chemical Compliance Administrator; initially on a 12 month fixed term contract.

Reporting into the Chemical Management Compliance Manager, you will be involved in managing and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for Imperial Brands portfolio of products marketed in the EU and non-EU markets.

You will act as a critical link between various internal stakeholders (R&D, Innovation, Science managers project managers and local market teams), external SDS authoring service providers and other internal/external Subject Matter Experts (SME). Giving you the perfect opportunity to build strong relationships within the business. 

Please note: This role is based at our Bristol Headquarters where you will be required to be on site up to 2 days per week (or as needed). 

Principle Accountabilities

  • Co-ordinate and manage Safety Data Sheet (SDSs) requests for IMB products, track their progress, monitor and report monthly KPIs. Ensure SDSs are made available to requestors within agreed timescales and respond to stakeholder queries in a timely manner
  • Liaise with external authoring service to address information or data gaps prior to issue of complaint SDSs
  • Provide regulatory support to business functions to be compliant with requirements for SDSs, ingredients listings, product labelling in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Maintain good understanding and knowledge of EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulations
  • Provide technical expertise for the requirements and/or lead on discussions in the interpretation of new or amended regulations, and implementation of requirements to ensure compliance, which have relevance for the Imperial Brands Product portfolio
  • Support the Chemical Management Manager and Specialist with regulatory compliance activities for new product/market launches, REACH registrations, notifications and other chemical regulatory developments impacting Imperial Brands

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in managing Safety Data Sheet (SDSs) 
  • High level of expertise in Global Chemical Legislation, in particular CLP and GHS and REACH.
  • Extensive understanding of current chemical regulation requirements
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to foster cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; with the ability to explain complex topics in an understandable way
