The Role

Are you passionate about packaging materials and technical drawings? Join our packaging development team at Imperial Tobacco.

As a Packaging Print Development Engineer, you'll develop and optimize packaging materials and technical drawings, brief external agencies, and manage our IT database. You will also collaborate with suppliers across Europe and and take part in optimization projects. Your technical expertise and decision-making skills will be crucial in improving our printing techniques and responding to stakeholder queries.

This is a hybrid work with the possibility to work from the office in Poznan or Tarnowo Podgórne.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Creation and modification of measure sheets, grid-nets, packaging overviews and calculation tables group wide.
  • Management and maintenance of the IT database for drawings and all systems around.
  • Being the key contact for manufacturing locations, and central functions about all matters regarding assistance for technical drawings as well as cooperation with other central functions and material- and machine suppliers
  • Creation of drawings and renderings in CAD & ESKO Studio to support the maintenance of material drawing standards and defining alternatives to optimise material drawings; continuous improvement of material drawing standards
  • Ordering test materials and conducting packaging material run-ability trials to prove changes in material drawings.
  • Working in project team to support for machine relocation between manufacturing locations, pack format conversion and the deployment of machine kits for existing packaging lines.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Education: technical university degree or equivalent in the field of packaging development, material development, mechanical engineering or similar; alternatively, technical training with a focus on technical drawings, packaging material production, or packaging machines or equivalent are welcome if they can provide strong packaging machinery background.
  • Minimum 3-5 years practical experience in related areas of expertise in production environment and good understanding of packaging lines and manufacturing processes as well as knowledge of packaging materials.
  • Basic skills of drawing programs (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ESKO Studio etc.)
  • Fluent English, knowledge of Polish and German language is an advantage.
  • Ability to works independently and systematically without losing attention to detail and accuracy and good interpersonal skills enabling to work in various cultural contexts.
  • Proficient PC / MS-Office skills.
