The Role

Location: UK Hybrid (we are flexible with some travel to office in London or Bristol)

Imperial Brands have an opportunity for a strategic communicator with a passion for guiding organisations through transformation to join us as our Strategic Programmes Communications Manager on a fixed term contact for one year. 

We’re looking for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to lead the way in connecting our people to our strategy during a time of significant change. You’ll craft compelling narratives, advise senior leaders, and drive engagement across global transformation programmes.

This is your chance to set a new tone for how we communicate change—making it clear, inspiring, and meaningful. You’ll work at the heart of our Global Communications team, partnering with senior stakeholders to ensure our colleagues feel informed, involved, and empowered.

Operating strategically as a cultural and business change comms consultant, and tactically as a comms and engagement professional, this role is at the forefront of our plans to improve how we communicate and deliver people experience.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Work with Imperial’s senior leaders to develop and execute integrated communication approaches and plans in line with the Global Communications Strategy.
  • Create a compelling and cohesive story for the various colleague communities of how our business is transforming ·
  • Equip people leaders to lead their teams through change with comms and change toolkits ·
  • Create and maintain a People Experience plan that surfaces outputs and activities from workstreams including comms, training, ER and change activities to provide an accurate picture of activity and interventions to target communities and colleagues impacted by change ·
  • Provide regular comms governance, reporting and escalation as needed to the programme leads and Enterprise Transformation Working Group. ·
  • Manage stakeholders across the function/region, and the wider business, to ensure messaging is aligned and consistent.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A proven track record in successfully developing and managing high-impact strategic internal communications, in complex, organisations gained as a senior leader.
  • Strong partnership, stakeholder and project management skills, with proven expertise in influencing and advising senior stakeholders in change communication and engagement.
  • Experience in consumer-led organisations – ideally within digital transformation, operating model and cultural change communications.
  • Effective interpersonal, management and communication skills, including the ability to write and present clear and concise professional communications to range of audience at all levels with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Track record of success in delivering high quality work in a fast paced and dynamic environment within a heavily matrixed organisation.
  • Able to exploit digital channels to support communication objectives.
