Are you a dealmaker with a sharp eye for opportunity and a passion for executing high-impact transactions? Join Imperial Brands as a Senior Corporate Development Manager and help shape the future of our business.

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead end-to-end M&A and strategic growth projects—from market assessment to deal execution.  You’ll work closely with senior leaders in the business, coordinate internal and external teams through various stages of deal activity and play a key role in identifying and delivering transformative opportunities, whilst maintaining awareness of industry developments.

We’re looking for someone with significant transaction experience—whether from investment banking, Big 4 corporate finance, or in-house corporate development at a listed company—who excels in building relationships and has the ability to positively challenge.

This role is hybrid based and can be within our Hammersmith London office or our Bristol HQ.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Shape Strategic Growth
Partner with the Head of Corporate Development to identify and prioritise high-impact projects that drive Imperial’s strategic agenda.
  • Lead M&A from Start to Finish
Own the full deal lifecycle—from sourcing and assessing opportunities to leading negotiations, due diligence, and integration across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Drive Project Excellence
Manage complex corporate development initiatives with precision, ensuring delivery through robust planning, governance, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Deliver Commercial Insight
Build financial models, valuations, and business cases that inform executive decisions and support operational planning.
  • Stay Ahead of the Market
Monitor industry M&A activity, assess competitive moves, and keep Imperial’s defence strategy sharp and up to date.
  • Inspire and Develop Talent
Lead and mentor team members, manage interim support, and foster strong internal and external networks to elevate the impact of the Corporate Development function.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven Transaction Experience
Significant experience of hands-on M&A or transaction experience—whether in investment banking, Big 4 corporate finance, or in-house corporate development at a large listed company.
  • Strategic and Commercial Mindset
Skilled at spotting opportunities and risks, connecting the dots across projects, and aligning work with broader business strategy.
  • Confident Communicator
Communicates with clarity, credibility, and influence—engaging effectively with senior stakeholders, including our Executive Leadership Team and external partners.
  • Stakeholder-Centric Approach
Builds trusted relationships, listens actively, and adapts communication to reflect diverse perspectives and business needs.
  • Proactive and Collaborative Leader
Takes initiative, drives progress, and contributes positively to team culture while mentoring others and expanding professional networks.
