The Role

As The Customs & Environmental Compliance Coordinator  you will ensure the continuity and efficiency of customs processes in alignment with environmental requirements—particularly in the areas of import and export. This integrated approach is essential to maintaining compliance, minimizing operational disruptions, and supporting IMB’s broader sustainability and trade objectives.

The Customs & Environmental Compliance Coordinator is responsible for driving new ways of working across both domains, in line with IMB’s evolving business activities and regulatory frameworks. This includes leading the implementation of customs and environmental changes, stabilizing processes through digital tools and IT solutions, and embedding long-term compliance and sustainability practices across the organization.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Environmental Process Optimization: Analyze, improve, and automate compliance processes (e.g., emissions, waste, CBAM) aligned with sustainability goals.
  • Project Management: Lead environmental transformation projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and manage timelines, risks, and budgets.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and implement changes in EU, UK, and global environmental regulations, ensuring full organizational compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Train teams, foster environmental ownership, and communicate sustainability initiatives across departments and stakeholders.
  • Data & Reporting: Develop environmental impact reports and analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with authorities, customs, and external advisors to maintain compliance and drive environmental initiatives.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Obligatory experience in customs compliance, sustainability, or regulatory affairs.
  • Knowledge of EU and UK customs procedures and platforms (e.g., TRACES, CBAM Registry).
  • Preferrable experience within Supply Chain, FMCG Manufacturing or Distribution functions. 
  • Ability to work in international, cross-functional and cultural teams, based on strong interpersonal skills and awareness of intercultural relationships
  • Excellent communication skills with Proficiency in English (written and spoken) as well and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills and strong analytical and data management skills (Excel, SAP, ESG platforms).
