The Role

An analyst-level position within Imperial's Insights function, this role will support the Regional Insight Director across a range of insight activities related to business planning co-ordination, performance management & pricing escalation processes.

Helping bring vital local context into regional and global-level insights, this role will be pivotal in informing decision-making across a number of important areas for Imperial and will have extensive exposure to senior stakeholders within the business.

Imperial Brands is currently undergoing a strategic transformation to become a consumer-centric organisation and the new Insight function will be a crucial driving force behind this change, placing consumer preferences and demands at the centre of commercial decision making to gain competitive advantage

 The Regional Insight Analyst will play an important role in supporting the relevant Regional Insight Director, as well as being a vital conduit for insights between cluster and group. This role will be responsible for key areas of insight related to the following processes:

  • Business planning coordination across clusters within the region; collation and creation of the regional business plan
  • Performance management including all regional, EXCOM and board level performance management requirements
  • Pricing escalation: coordination, governance and execution of the pricing escalation process

Principle Accountabilities

  • Design & deliver the Regional Business Plan in accordance with key controls and governance principles, driving the distribution of outputs and messages to key stakeholders within the organisation
  • Partner with relevant colleagues within the Insight Standards & Services teams to develop models, templates and assets to support key business deliverables - e.g. Regional Business Plan, Target Setting, Market Size & Share dashboards etc.
  • Support Clusters to develop respective parts of their own business plans via business partnering; encouraging Clusters to self-serve where possible and facilitating handoffs / liaison with other parts of the Insights function where required
  • Co-ordinate business planning activity across the respective Clusters
  • Performance management including all regional, EXCOM and board level performance management requirements - this may include the delivery of market size & share dashboards, scenario & planning modelling (e.g. COVID, Airline travel) etc.
  • Co-ordinate & manage the pricing escalation process, ensuring the timely delivery of inputs and outputs, and that stakeholders remain informed of key deadlines and processes.
  • Undertake governance & execution activities related to the pricing escalation process, ensuring adherence to pricing guardrails & key controls
  • Play a key role in embedding and maintaining the new process architecture that drives functional relationships between Group, Regions, Clusters, Categories & Markets. In particular ensure that the system of collating and prioritising insight needs / requests within Region is working well
  • Remain up to date with key industry regulation, issues, changes and trends that may affect the business - e.g. pricing changes, menthol bans, competitor performance etc.
  • Remain up to date with key market / consumer changes & trends that may influence the business - e.g. demand shifts, consumer behavioural shifts etc
  • Proactively spot insight opportunities and risks emerging from each Cluster – e.g. that might impact broader business strategies – and share them at regional / global levels. Identify opportunities to replicate or scale market or cluster-specific initiatives across other geographies.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Educated to degree level in relevant field
  • Ability to swiftly develop a deep knowledge of the business, consumer and regulatory realities across clusters, to deliver commercially sound, actionable insights
  • Ability to network, critically engage & influence senior-level stakeholders on a range of complex and commercial issues
  • Ability to deliver data-driven insights from multiple sources, clearly articulating the commercial & business implications across different geographies
  • Strong analysis skills: can work with multiple data sources, prioritise key areas of investigation, and apply a sound interpretation to findings
  • Adept at telling stories in a persuasive, articulate and engaging way, challenging stakeholder perspectives
  • Highly organised, accurate and thorough in approach to work/tasks.
  • Passion for shaping Imperial's business strategy around the consumer of the future.
  • Experience in business planning co-ordination
  • Proactive mindset for solving challenges
