This exciting role sits within an emerging area which is rapidly developing next generation products.  As Topography Lead you'll provide specialist technical advice, conducting studies on user product interaction.  This will enable  [1] the support of product development; [2] inform testing parameters for aerosol chemistry studies; and [3] understand consumer behaviour in consumer panel or clinical studies for Next Generation Products. 

Key accountabilities

  • Provide, to the highest professional standards, advice and interpretation related to topography research across spectrum of next Generation Products.
  • Design and execute testing protocols for topography studies working with R&D, internal labs, clinical and behavioural functions. Be the principal expert and conduit for all stakeholders regarding topography research.
  • Collaborate with external testing partners to execute topography research and deliver on site training of topography equipment internally and externally
  • Keep abreast of scientific literature pertaining to topography which can then be used to establish machine puffing regimes for aerosol chemistry testing of Next Generation Products.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the company’s positions on technical regulatory issues and contribute and/or lead on discussions in the interpretation of new or amended regulations which have relevance to topography
  • Support Product Characterisation Function in the development of testing protocols for other NGP products (e.g. Aerosol Chemistry Testing, Extractables and Leachables, Stability Testing)
  • Represent the company externally in relevant industry groups and scientific conferences/meetings and write external publications or critiques. Assimilating data and disseminating relevant information in appropriate detail and complexity.
  • Maintain professional standards (maintain CPD, and registration e.g. Royal Society of Chemistry)

Skills & experience

  • Post-graduate qualification (or equivalent) in Chemistry
  • 3 years’ experience in a commercial, industrial, or regulatory environment.
  • Registered Chemist or equivalent
  • The ability to abstract & review scientific literature, provide thorough critiques and contextualise scientific developments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to convey complex scientific information at an appropriate level (non-technical, senior management, other parties within industry etc.).
  • Self-motivated, logical, dependable, and able to work accurately under pressure to achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Computer literate as a user.
  • Strong influencing skills and experience.

desirable:

  • Competence in a second language (preferably German, French and/or Spanish)
