The role

A junior analyst role within the new central Reporting team of Imperial's Insights function

The purpose of this role is to deliver insightful market and global level reporting, that will help guide decision-making across the business

Imperial Brands is currently undergoing a strategic transformation to become a consumer-centric organisation and the new Insights function will be a crucial driving force behind this change, placing consumer preferences and demands at the centre of commercial decision making to gain competitive advantage.

 

This role will support Reporting Managers to create standardised and bespoke reporting content, used to generate insights, in a timely, accurate fashion that meets the needs of the business, thereby helping to elevate the quality and consistency of actionable insights that drive decision-making

Key accountabilities

  • Gain a working knowledge of all data stored within the global data lake (The Hive) and other relevant sources. Understand the methods used to create and structure it, and how it can be used to generate insights that drive business processes
  • Become familiar with insight generation methods used within key business processes across the Consumer and Market Insights activities
  • Working with a Reporting Manager, learn how to challenge the brief, guide the end client towards the best way to meet their needs, and agree a clear scope of work to be delivered within achievable deadlines
  • Present or communicate reporting to key stakeholders. Offer opinions on potential implications and recommendations, helping clarify how to interpret the data in line with the methods used to create it.
  • Support multiple stakeholders, including members of the Data Strategy, Data Science and Consumer Research teams, to achieve a seamless process between research execution, reporting and insight generation
  • Accountable for delivery of personal workload to agreed deadlines.
  • Adhere to global quality, accuracy and independence standards for reporting, using best practice techniques, templates and processes
  • Become known as a reliable and valuable source of information, driving a positive image of the Reporting team to the business
  • Take responsibility for personal professional development, taking advantage of learning resources available to continue to develop skills as new reporting tools and technologies become available

  • Internal NPS (or CSAT)
  • Internal project benchmarks (% of output meeting standards)

Skills & experience

Essential

  • Passionate about learning and professional development
  • Understanding of consumer trends
  • Analytical background, ideally within an FMCG environment
  • Strong client liaison and teamwork skills
  • Ability to present information in a clear and structured way, creating engaging visualisations and compelling narratives
  • Innovative and inventive mindset, challenging accepted techniques and processes in the hunt for continuous improvement
  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Adept at translating technical details / individual data points into clear, insightful learnings about the customer

Desirable 

  • Creation and design of reports using Power Bi or a similar system
  • Knowledge of DAX and SQL languages
  • Experience working across different functional teams
