Please note: this is a 12 month fixed term contract role and can be based in Bristol or London with 50 / 50 hybrid working. 

The role

The scope of the role is centred around building the foundations to enable the delivery of purposeful analytics for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and supporting the broader People & Culture (P&C) function with the provision of insights on a global scale.

This role will be part of the People Analytics Team and also report to the Global Head of DEI.

The main functions of the role are divided into three areas:


  • Developing BI tools to track and monitor DEI workforce data and key metrics
  • Lead a global campaign for DEI self-identification data to improve completion rates across Group
  • Analyse data to understand DEI trends and forecasts, create hypothesis and questions to understand where there may be issues for under-represented groups and also to make proposals for future aspirations based data assumptions

The ideal candidate is someone passionate about DEI, data visualization and data storytelling and is curious about what it is telling us.

You also need to have previous experience in delivering analytics solutions and tools to help the business identifying key risks and opportunities.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the People Analytics function at Imperial Brands, and will have the opportunity to support cross-functional projects across the business . Previous data modelling experience and a good understanding of data analysis techniques is a must

Key accountabilities

  • Developing DEI dashboards for tracking and monitoring key data points, looking at metrics and trends to support delivery of the DEI strategy
  • Lead a global campaign for DEI self-identification data, monitor and drive continuous improvement on completion rates across Group
  • Extracting, manipulating, and analysing data to build an accurate picture of the company workforce profile and support the DEI team with the calculation of targets to deliver the Group strategy
  • Partner with the Global DEI team to support with data requests and analyses to internal / external customers
  • Support the delivery of the P&C Data Strategy by becoming the SME for DEI
  • Identify metrics that can be used to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives
  • Troubleshooting issues identified in the visualization tools in close collaboration with service support
  • Building collateral, documentation and training materials to upskill the P&C community in the area of People Analytics

Key skills and experience required


  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Power BI or other visualizations tools (Tableau, QlikView…)
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Previous experience in the delivery of data science projects / statistical analytics tools and programming languages (for example Python, R, SQL, VBA, etc)
  • Strong data management skills
  • Ability to design KPI and metrics
  • Previous stakeholder management experience
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Curiosity and ability to translate data reports and analytics into simple terms for everyone to understand
  • Open-mindedness and willing to learn
  • Previous experience working with DEI data
  • Interest and/or passionate about DEI


  • Degree / Masters or equivalent experience in a numerical discipline: Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or another related field
  • Experience in applied statistics: estimation, hypothesis testing, regression, etc.
  • Workday experience is a plus
