About the role

Therefore, as Global DEI Reporting Manager your role is to spearhead on the internal and external reporting requirements across Imperial’s DEI strategy. As a subject matter expert, you will work cross functionally across all areas along Imperial’s value chain (i.e., from People and Culture across the employee life cycle, within ESG, Supply chain, Community Outreach, Facilities) collating information to support Imperial’s narrative and performance against the DEI strategy, commitments and priority DEI responsibilities. It will be important to operate closely and seamlessly with the ESG Global reporting manager to collect and co-ordinate DEI input for both teams and ensure messaging within the overall People and Planet strategy is consistent. It will also be important to build relationships and work closely with external best practice agencies and partners in the DEI space to report on our progress against key commitments externally as well as internally.

Key accountabilities

  • Collate understanding of DEI partnerships and assessments across the globe and introduce a central approach to ensuring we govern and effectively manage input against these to get one source of truth and have a clear system to understand our current DEI status and progress – locally and globally.
  • Initiate, coordinate and manage DEI related third-party relationships and ensure the correct procedures and requirements are in place prior to entering an external supplier arrangement (i.e., Business disability forum, Stonewall, The Global DEI benchmarking tool - GDEIB).
  • Coordinate and annual data verification process of non-financial DEI data to report both internally and externally.
  • Oversee Imperial’s participation in DEI benchmarks like Business Disability, Workplace Equality Assessment, Global Diversity Equity and Inclusion Benchmark (GDEIB), the Workforce Disclosure Initiative (WDI) and other global ESG indices from investor rating.
  • Review and analyse reporting gaps in benchmarks, making recommendations to the business to drive improvement and to ensure the highest scores or ratings are achieved thereby enhancing Imperial’s reputation.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and business leaders responsible for the priority DEI issues and lead on information gathering from these stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of Imperial’s DEI strategy and to develop narratives for public / internal disclosures and responses to benchmarks.
  • Educate, advise, and inform the business on reporting requirements; keep abreast of regulatory developments related to DEI reporting and what is considered best practice and make recommendations to the business for improved performance and reporting outputs.
  • Oversee Imperial’s role in the GDEIB, ensuring our internal policy and process leaders continue to participate in the programme so that we can manage and monitor our progress on workplace and marketplace indicators of success.
  • Represent Imperial on external DEI steering groups, where appropriate working with industry colleagues to develop a unified approach to DEI management.
  • Support the Global DEI programme manager and key internal stakeholders on developing and delivery of key programmes towards the DEI strategy, including development of new metrics and initiatives as required.
  • To effectively communicate with all stakeholders, designing and delivering engaging presentations and business reports as required.

Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement 

  • Manage, prepare, and coordinate DEI input for assessments, benchmarks, and reports
  • Define requirements for key programmes of work as a result of DEI assessment outcomes
  • Lead on DEI submissions (i.e., Business Disability, GDEIB, Workplace equality), coordinating with functions including The People and Culture Team, ESG team, Procurement Team (Leaf, NTM and NGP) and Risk Assurance to obtain the relevant information required.
  • Respond to and address any queries raised by external rating agencies and DEI partners who provide DEI and ESG assessments on organisations for the investment community.
  • Support the Global DEI Manager, ERG manager, Director and the ESG team with queries from external analysts
  • Ensure close connectivity to our Employee Resource groups (ERGs) – especially where assessments and programme initiatives require ERG collaboration and input
  • Represent the company in relevant external forums and workshops.
  • Oversee Imperial’s participation in relevant DEI forums or steering groups ensuring we provide consistent messaging and bring best practice insight back into the organisation
  • Work with the IB Procurement Team to ensure that external partnerships are managed effectively and in line with requirements

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • You are passionate about DE&I and want to make a purposeful difference across a global organisation
  • Relevant qualification and/or practical experience of DEI standards such as workplace equality assessments, disability smart assessments and / or assessing against global diversity, equity, and inclusion benchmarking standards such as the GDEIB
  • Knowledge and practical experience of DEI reporting requirements for a UK PLC with Global scope
  • Highly organised, articulate, very strong, influencing skills and networking ability.
  • Logical and methodological approach with attention to detail for external reporting.
  • Understanding and application of stakeholder / relationship management; with the ability to manage senior management.
  • Credibility at senior management level with good business awareness.
  • Proven experience of programme management and working cross-functionally
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
  • Demonstrable experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis with the ability to recognise trends and propose improvements based on the analysis
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Willingness to travel globally
