For our Finance team, we are looking for a new Finance Manager Germany (m/f/d).

The role

We’re looking for an ambitious individual with high development potential to fill the key finance leadership role in one of Imperial Brands largest market (>EUR 1bn revenue). The role is based in Hamburg and reports directly into the CFO of Imperial Brands in DACH. The new Finance Manager will act as the right hand and natural stand-in for the CFO, leading and coordinating all finance activities within the German market in order to deliver Imperial Brands’ business targets.  

What are your major duties?

  • Co-pilot the German business together with the Sales and Marketing leadership team, providing timely, accurate and insightful commercial support.
  • Develop robust growth strategies with clear where to win and how to play choices. Implement these strategies and ensure excellent execution in the market.
  • Lead financial planning and controlling, ensuring strong brand business plans and gap fill programs to deliver the targets. This includes continual review and evaluation of business performance, capturing potential opportunities and mitigating existing risks.
  • Coordinate month-, quarter- and year-end closing. This includes analyzing actuals vs. plan deviation and presenting key insights to group finance.
  • Responsible for financial reporting and the preparation of the quarterly business review process.
  • Manage credit control and review customer credit limits on a regular basis.
  • Lead business analysis, including review and evaluation of current and future investments to ensure return on investments and alignment with business strategy.
  • Identify, develop and drive cost savings initiatives to ensure that agreed profit improvement targets are met.
  • Plan, monitor and report on the budget for your area of responsibility.
  • Coach and lead a high performing finance team (5 direct reports, 13 employees in total), ensuring the team’s development and a sustainable finance talent pipeline.
  • Ensure compliance with external legislation, group policies and relevant controls to satisfy high local and group standards of governance. This includes partnering with 3rd parties to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial statements in accordance with the relevant accounting and tax literature.
  • Ensure that processes/procedures are supported in line with requirements by providing appropriate resources, tools and analytical reports. 
  • Build close and cohesive relationship with group finance, ensuring efficient and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Initiate and manage international cross-regional projects with regard to strategic issues.

Who are you?

  • You hold a university degree in Business Administration, ideally with Finance Focus or Financial Qualification (e.g. ACA/CIMA/CPA)
  • You have 10+ years of professional experience within Finance, preferably in FMCG environment
  • You possess strong analytical skills and an excellent understanding of the various commercial functions in Controlling
  • You drive the business and/or change on the basis of your analysis and a consistent planning and forecasting process
  • You are experienced in Accounting (incl. GAAP and IFRS consolidation)
  • You have a result-oriented approach with the ability to support others, as well as take an independent position
  • You own a strong collaborative attitude with the ability to influence and work effectively with cross-functional executives across the global organization
  • You have effective people management and leadership skills in a dynamic and multicultural environment working with international teams
  • You have a visible commitment to change and thus create momentum in the broader organization by not only questioning the status quo but contributing new ideas for business improvement making sure that implementation follows
  • You are fluent in English, fluency in German is a strong plus
