The Role

Working within the Device Engineering Team and reporting to the Electronics Development Manager.  This role will be for an electronics designer on New Product Development projects within the R&D pillar of the Innovation function. The role plays a key part in device development for all new product development projects.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Working within a team of Electronic Development Engineers to develop designs from component selection through to manufacture, delivering prototypes and technical solutions for innovation projects including
  • Expertise in electronic engineering for development and technology projects to deliver against design brief and functional performance
  • Developing innovative concepts to solve engineering challenges.
  • Managing the prototype design, iterative development, and testing activities to validate these concepts leveraging the capabilities of the team
  • Work closely with multifunctional counterparts (Marketing/Category, MSC, Quality and Regulatory) to deliver fit for purpose propositions (Consumer, Cost, Scalability) and ensure technical requirements are clearly understood
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers to enable access to newest technologies and facilitate prototype production and scale up to full production.
  • Mentor Electronics and Test Engineers/Technicians within the team to help build internal skills/capabilities

Key Skills, Education & Experience

Essential

  • BEng/MEng in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5 years’+ experience in product development.
  • Excellent at concept generation – finding innovative solutions to engineering problems
  • Experience of using Altium Designer
  • Schematic capture
  • Microprocessor experience
  • Electronic prototyping skills/breadboarding
  • Debug and verification of electronic circuits
  • Experience in Full product lifecycle development.
  • Excellent knowledge/experience of manufacturing processes
  • Competence in planning and risk mitigation within R&D projects
  • Very good English language skills
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills
  • Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills

Desirable

  • Effective communicator capable of managing and collaborating with internal and external partners
  • In depth knowledge/experience of high-volume electronic devices
  • Knowledge of different low power heating technologies
  • Experience in electronic development of electronic consumer products or medical devices
  • Experience with EVP and/or HT products
  • Firmware experience would also be a plus
  • Proficient at managing project resource
  • Design of Li-Ion battery power devices
  • DFMEA Experience.
  • Design for low power applications
