The role

Leading and assisting on multiple complex and international disputes of Group significance and supporting Group Functions, you will be part of an agile team delivering of high-quality, commercial legal advice.

The role reports to the Head of Competition and Dispute Resolution and will cover a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters in the area of dispute resolution/litigation on any topic facing a large corporate. The role will include the delivery of the day-to-day case management of dispute resolution matters, special projects, compliance materials and training. Depending on the size of the matter and the seniority of the candidate there will be flexibility on working autonomously in a supported environment.   

The role involves working with stakeholders at all levels from Group functions, product category teams and markets to provide direct advice or “centre of excellence” leadership. The role offers opportunity to expand into contentious competition law matters.

We are able to be flexible on location - this role can be based in Bristol or London with 50% hybrid working.

This is a full time role based on 35 hours per week, however if you are unable to commit to 35 hours per week we are able to be flexible for the right candidate.

Dispute Resolution

  • Leadership of/Assisting with the defence and conduct of significant actual, threatened or potential commercial and other litigation, investigations and disputes;
  • Assisting with any legal challenges to unreasonable and disproportionate regulation of consumer products; and
  • Drafting of materials and/or delivery of training to business managers on relevant topics such as legal privilege, or document creation, retention, disclosure and management.

Skills and experience required

  • A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 4 years’ post-qualification experience in the UK or another European jurisdiction;
  • Experience in litigation case management;
  • Strong legal background, with the ability to apply this commercially and to provide confident advice to all levels of stakeholders;
  • Good organisational and project management skills, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Excellent written, drafting and communication skills, and the ability to work with teams and across multiple disciplines and jurisdictions;
  • Ability to manage external advisors, whilst controlling costs; 
  • Ability to work in a matrixed and global environment, to handle multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders efficiently and effectively;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills.
  • "Roll-up sleeves" mentality and ability
  • Possibility for international travel  
  • IT Skills: Alongside excellent Word and Outlook skills, a working knowledge of Power Point will be required
