The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and proactive Accountant to join our financial department at Imperial Brands. In this role, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks, including coordinating efforts between our financial shared services and the Wilrijk organisation. Your responsibilities will encompass statutory and tax duties, internal control measures, and project work that supports the overall objectives of the Imperial Brands organisation.

As the Accountant, you will report directly to the Factory Controller and collaborate closely with the Cost Accountant and Assistant Controller. This position requires a hands-on problem solver who is eager to contribute to our financial operations and drive improvements within our processes. Principle Accountabilities

  • Coordinate supplier accounting and payment processes, ensuring efficient execution through the Financial Shared Services (FSS) team.
  • Oversee and follow up on monthly closing activities to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal deadlines.
  • Elaborate on and adjust procedures within the FSS to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in accounting processes.
  • Provide training to local teams to ensure understanding and adherence to financial procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Manage statutory tasks such as VAT declarations, corporate tax preparation, and the preparation of annual accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Monitor the planning of investments and depreciation, assist in preparing and following up on investment requests, and manage the fixed asset register and depreciation reporting.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in an economic or financial field, or equivalent experience in a related area.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of VAT regulations and processes is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in supplier accounting is required, with additional experience in a production environment or audit considered a plus.
  • Insight and practical experience with ERP systems (such as QAD, JDE, or SAP) to ensure effective financial operations.
  • Proficient in both English and Dutch, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, along with strong research, analytical, and organisational skills; ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in problem-solving, while maintaining attention to detail and a holistic view of financial processes.
