The role

The NGP Procurement Manager (Consumables & Ingredients) is accountable for:

  • Leading the procurement project engagement and collaboration with cross functional teams (Innovations, Quality, Operation, MSC, Legal, Group Science, Category and Finance teams), driving robust and transparent procurement decision-making, and leading the EVP/OND/HT consumable Procurement Ideation to launch (I2L) development process.
  • Development and Execution of procurement commodity strategies for NGP EVP/OND/HT consumable products to deliver the Category’s product roadmap and innovation pipeline to the product supply strategy.
  • Representing the NGP Procurement team for NGP EVP/OND/HT consumable delivering the Procurement project status in the relevant Category I2L stage gate forum’s / Steer Co’s.


Location: We have offices in Bristol, Liverpool, London, Poland and Hamburg; therefore this role can be done on a hybrid model from any of these locations. Some domestic and international travel will be required. 

Key accountabilities

  • Development, implementation, successful execution and continuously review of the Product Supply Strategy in conjunction with Category, Innovations, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance and Technology Realisation leadership teams.
  • Accountable for new supplier onboarding and complying to IMB standards and ways of working
  • Interface regularly with Senior Forums within IMB to align and make recommendations on Strategic topics.
  • Negotiate Costs for new formulations as well as annual negotiation.
  • Ensure a cost-conscious attitude is embedded in the department with close controls on Transfer Costs to increase margins and company profit.
  • Pro-actively drive and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team and beyond to drive costs down while maintaining quality.
  • Generate, embed, and continuously improve Procurement best practice SOPs to support all procurement processes within NGP Category team.  Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of said processes and procedures.
  • Control the NGP Approved Vendor List
  • Drive capability gap analysis.
  • Awareness of evolving legislation and collaboration with the Regulatory team required to ensure compliance for all product and process introductions or changes; support PMTA submissions as required.
  • Scouting of new flavour houses, ingredients and outsource partners.

Skills and experience


  • Specific direct category management procurement experience of Pharma or Food & Drink liquid ingredient sourcing. Other FMCG categories considered.
  • Proven experience in onboarding new partners
  • Experience with new product and/or process introductions.
  • Strong project management experience, experience of managing multiple projects through a Stage Gate process
  • Able to deal with a changing environment and with change-able requirements.
  • Analytical and Strategic
  • Is ambitious and driven to achieve results; and has the ability to consistently deliver through others.
  • Highly organised, reliable and is commercially awareness.
  • A proven track record to influence and manage internal and external senior level stakeholders and managing strategic relationships.
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Expert Negotiation skills
  • An FMCG background is preferred ideally with experience of sourcing ingredients globally
  • Fluent written and oral English is essential
  • Cross cultural experience is preferred


  • Working in a regulated environment (Pharma, Medical, automotive, aerospace, etc.)
  • Chemistry background and experience
  • Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Process Engineering or equivalent.
  • Expert understanding of EVP/OND & HT consumable chemistry from ingredients through to finished goods.
  • FMCG Consumable development experience
  • Experience with supply chains
  • Experience with conducting supplier audits
  • Dealing with overseas suppliers on a global scale
  • Delivery of cost reduction programmes
  • A structured approach to planning and the use of problem-solving tools.
