Principle Accountabilities

  • The strict deadlines set out in the relevant legislation are achieved;
  • Where any delay occurs, the appropriate approval for an extension is sought from the relevant authority;
  • Comprehensive responses to all notifying authority seizure notifications are provided;
  • Details of the seizures are communicated to all relevant Imperial Brands’ PLC markets and corporate centre functions;
  • A proper and detailed record of the seizure is maintained, using the i2 intelligence software package;
  • Scrupulous records are maintained in relevant databases.
  • Coordinate the post seizure inspection of seized goods, ensuring that such inspections are conducted safely and efficiently, in accordance with the agreed procedures.
  • Oversee the relationship with third-party service providers conducting inspections on behalf of Imperial Brands PLC, ensuring full compliance and efficiency in respect of costs.
  • Interrogate appropriate databases to collate and analyse information relating to product route-to-market and 1st and 2nd level purchasers, reporting on any trends identified;
  • Initiate post-seizure investigations to gather and collate information and intelligence to support further enquiries and compliance action in respect of product diversion.
  • Collate and analyse seizure data to identify any trends/patterns in the illicit trade, which are likely to impact Imperial Brands’ business;
  • Collate and analyse information for the preparation of comprehensive seizure reporting, including:
  • Monthly reporting on risk brands, markets and individuals as required by HMRC under the UKTPDA;
  • Submissions to OLAF, including the annual policy presentation
  • Various management reporting requirements
  • Provide ad-hoc reports containing seizure data as required;
  • Attend and support meetings and briefings with relevant regulators and Imperial stakeholders as required

Internal (Excluding direct Team/Manager)

  • To include, but not limited to, all Imperial Brands PLC markets;
  • Manufacturing and Supply Chain;
  • Corporate Centre functions as required.

  • HMRC;
  • UK Border Agency;
  • EU Commission (OLAF);
  • Service Providers.

Education, Key Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Administratively competent, analytical and detail focussed.
  • Intermediate PC skills, with competency in MS Office products, particularly Excel, SAP and other databases.
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • The ability to liaise/communicate with colleagues on a cross-functional and multi-cultural basis.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; able to articulate research findings to inform and influence.

 Desirable

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation governing the seizure of tobacco products.
  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain systems.
