The Head of IT Enterprise PMO (Portfolio Management Office) leads the establishment, development and running of the IT Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO). In this role the Head of IT: • provides oversight for the planning, funding and resourcing of Imperials Global IT Project Portfolio • works collaboratively within the IT functions and across Imperial to oversee and govern the IT Project Portfolio by ensuring alignment to the Group strategy and priorities within agreed resourcing and financial constraints. • provides a strategic overview to aid decision making including key risks, issues and dependencies that may impact our overall ability to deliver the strategy owning the PPM tool to ensure it supports IT portfolio management globally • will be the custodian of Imperial’s IT strategic demand and project delivery framework, ensuring the Group’s continuous maturity in project governance, portfolio management and execution. • Evaluate and guide the prioritisation and scheduling of initiatives to ensure clarity and effective assessment of costs, benefits, risks and dependencies at a program and portfolio level The IT Enterprise PMO (EPMO) is a global IT function which operates at strategic level with IT executives and provides enterprise wide IT support on governance, reporting, project portfolio management & controls best practices, mentoring, tools and standardized processes. EPMO ensures/facilitate strategic alignment between business objectives and projects executed. The Head of IT Enterprise PMO (HoITEPMO)is further owning & orchestrating the global IT demand management process and designs, owns and maintains the governance needed (dictated by internal and external factors) in close cooperation with IT Business Partnering. In conjunction with the IT Business Partners, the HoITEPMO oversees the management and the evaluation of all demand and facilitates the funding approval and financial benefit management.
• Owning and continuous mature the IT Demand process. Incl. Demand forecasting and collating the project demand - generated from different business cases developed across the organization – and classified into strategic, tactical or operational demand. • Facilitate and initiate business prioritization of IT projects, benefit realization and value management in conjunction with IT Business Partnering • Work with IT Business Partnering to understand investment priorities and to align the demand portfolio with Business/IT Strategy/priorities – also for in-flight projects • Enterprise Strategy Alignment – EPMO facilitate the validation that the IT projects/Programmes that are undertaken in various departments of the organization are aligned to the near and long term business objective. Thereby ensuring that the organization is spending money on the ‘right things’. • The EPMO facilitates the demand approval process and closes any demand gaps • EPMO has the responsibility to track the portfolios, programs and projects. EPMO will periodically audit these portfolios, programs and projects to ensure the project related methodologies, controls, governance are adopted properly • EPMO provides regular reports to the ITLT on progress and performance at the portfolio level to assist any informed decisions • Standardize processes, methodologies, project management practices and tools across the enterprise – ensures all departments are talking the same language and also brings out better synergy. EPMO also drives continuous improvement of processes and project management practices • Work with the Delivery PMO Lead (Project Mgt Offices) and Global Solution Delivery teams to develop and embed the project / programme delivery methodology including governance and control arrangements • Work with Enterprise Architect and Technical Design Authority to identify and drive synergies across the IT portfolio (e.g. if existing services or projects can address demand) • Oversee IT resource management and internal effort allocation such as tooling enablement, reporting on resource utilisation, internal effort allocation and timesheets compliance • Facilitate project lessons learnt and makes lessons learned available in the PM community • Standardizes applicable metrics, tools, procedures and techniques • Maintain supplier partnerships and continuously improve PPM tooling to support Global IT portfolio management • Ensures Portfolio Financial management/oversight at the Portfolio level
Skills & experience
• Educated to degree level, ideally in Information Technology, Engineering Business, Economics or equivalent • Holds a recognised Programme & Project Management certification ie PRINCE 2, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) • A proven track record in personally managing the delivery of complex, cross-functional and cross-geography IT portfolios and large global IT programmes with at least 5+ years of experience of working in IT • Considerable experience in the development of IT delivery methods (planning, scheduling, project control procedures, agile and classic approaches, etc.) • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills (including coaching) with proven ability of building and managing key relationships with internal IT and business stakeholders • Engaging, articulate and able to influence across internal IT and business stakeholders • Strong knowledge of enterprise project portfolio management practices, processes and governance methodologies • Strong knowledge of the financial aspects of Programme and Portfolio management • Manages stakeholder’s expectations of deliverables, seeks ongoing feedback and exceeds expectations where possible • Excellent presentation and written communication skills and ability to work independently • Flexibility and resilience in responding to multiple changing priorities • Systematic and disciplined approach to planning, organising, decision making and delegation

For this role we offer a competitive package of salary 85-100K Per annum, including bonus and 13th month, pension and 25 days holiday + 9 days ADV.
